No, shooters and shots aren’t the same thing. A ‘shooter’ is a tiny mixed drink that generally has a somewhat absurd name and is served in a shooter glass, whereas a ‘shot’ is a straight spirit also served in a shooter glass. Viva small drinks!

Compared to liquors that have a high alcohol content and are distilled from grains or plants, liqueurs are sweetened, flavoured liquors with a lower alcohol content and a syrupy consistency. Amaretto, Irish cream, Triple Sec and J├Ągermeister are liqueurs. They are often used to make shooters. Come on, let your imagination run wild!

When creating shooters, you don’t have to stick to traditional mixers.
Shooters can be made with literally anything. Yes, even things like Tabasco, milk, egg or even mayonnaise… So go on, puzzle your taste buds!

What you'll need

  • Liqueurs to make the shooter with
  • Teaspoon
  • Jigger, you know that fancy, professional alcohol-measuring utensil (3 Tbsp = 1 jigger)
  • Shot Glass

  1. Measure the thickest liqueur with the jigger, and pour into the shot glass.
  2. Place the teaspoon upside down with the tip inside the shot glass and slowly pour the next thickest liqueur into the glass over the back of the spoon.
  3. Repeat for the remaining liqueurs, with the lightest liqueur on top.
  4. You should now have a beautifully layered shooter!
  5. You know what to do next.
